EPS purifies and recycles oil through our PCBX process, both at our facilities and on location at customer sites. With over 100 million gallons of reclaimed, dechlorinated oil already processed using PCBX, it has proven to be the most effective a preferred method for PCB destruction in mineral oil. EPS’ unique system results in processing costs that are much lower than our competition, allowing our customers significantly higher value for their used oil.
OIL RECYCLING
Transformer Oil Recycling
At EPS
We receive bulk oil shipments of customer’s non-PCB and PCB-contaminated oil to be recycled utilizing the PCBX process. This is an economic and environmentally friendly alternative to incineration. EPS has EPA permits to dechlorinate oil with PCBs of up to 17,780 ppm.
Within two weeks of the oil being chemically treated and reclaimed, the customer receives a Certificate of Disposal/Recycling for each shipment. This paperwork will assure them that EPS properly treated their waste oil and removed their liability.
Once the oil has been purified through the PCBX process it is sold to industrial and utility customers. Industrial customers typically purchase the Quality Blend oil which can be used in a wide variety of applications. Utilities purchase Trans-X oil for use in transformers and other electrical equipment.
At Customer Sites
Through our sister company, Power Substation Services, we travel to customer locations throughout the United States and use the PCBX process to decontaminate the PCBs from the transformer mineral oil while the transformer is energized. This proprietary process is cheaper than retrofilling the transformer and with no outages required to perform the service. PCBX is the one of the only mobile EPA-permitted process for chemically treating PCB oil. Transformers with starting PCB contamination levels of 50-499 ppm can be processed to levels that will allow them to be reclassified to non-PCB status.
Locations of the EPS PCBX Processing Equipment:
Rig 2 is in storage at the EPS facility in Wheeling, West Virginia pending repairs and upgrades.
Rig 6 is processing oil at TCI of Alabama in Pell City, Alabama. This rig is usually processing non-regulated but will periodically process regulated PCB oil. EPS maintains a log of the days that regulated oil is processed.
Rig 8 is processing oil at the EPS facility in Wheeling, West Virginia. This rig is usually processing non-regulated but will periodically process regulated PCB oil. EPS maintains a log of the days that regulated oil is processed.
